A Wounded Warrior who lost his one leg in Afghanistan is the
first combat-wounded U.S. veteran
to climb to the top of Mount Everest.
Marine Staff Sgt. Charlie Linville has reached the summit of the world's tallest mountain and has officially made history as the first combat
wounded veteran to ever reach the top of Mount Everest. He has become a world hero.
When he lost his leg, he suffered a severe
brain injury when a bomb that he was defusing went off in Afghanistan in
2011. He reached the 29,000-foot summit on his third attempt.
