The opposition political parties and a large section of the Ghanaian public have sharply and seriously rejected
suggestions from the Police to blocked all social media platforms during the November general election.
John Kudalor, the inspector general of police, suggested that there
could be a ban during the elections session to ensure that
social media are not used to send misleading information to destabilize the country.
Dominic Nitiwul, deputy minority leader in parliament from the New Patriot Party, is ready to fight the police in court as he deems it illegal. There are other sources that are suggesting that the police need to source for the technology that would enable them to track down and arrest those who will use the social media negatively.
