According to the BBC, out of 42,000 students who sat this
year’sWASSCE exam only one student had been able to gain admission to the university in Liberia.
Armstrong Gbessagee, 18, from the J.J. Roberts United Methodist School in the capital, Monrovia, is the one who achieved this feat –
passing the Division One entry level exam. The paper is administered to
choose qualified students to enroll in University.
“No matter where you are from we are not less, intellectually, than
other people from across West Africa. I hope others see this as a
motivation. ” Armstrong told the BBC’s Jonathan Paye-Layleh in Monrovia.
