Fifty-six students were sprayed with a substance on a school bus in
Montgomery Village on Wednesday afternoon, Montgomery County according to sources.
Emergency Medical Services is on scene investigating an
"inhalation emergency" in the parking lot of Watkins Mill Elementary
School in the 19000 block of Watkins Mill Rd.
Fire
and EMS officials first reported that the substance was pepper spray.
Meanwhile, school officials and police are now calling what had been
sprayed a "substance."
MCPD and MCPS both say a fight may
have started between students. One student has been arrested on assault
charges, according to police.
According
to officials, EMS evaluated 56 students following the incident. Thirty
of the students will be transported as a precautionary measure with
non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials say. Two medical ambulance buses are assisting.
