President John Mahama and the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Kofi Wampah are under a heavy curse of angry customers of defunct DKM, Diamond Micro-Finance Ltd and others in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The clients claim President Mahama has incurred their wrath after he failed to fulfill his promise to retrieve their monies for them. Kofi Sarpong, who spoke on behalf of the aggrieved customers, in a press conference in Nkoranza said, if President Mahama was able to release the Montie three who were sentenced to four months for contempt of court, then he should do same to release their monies to them.
He revealed that most of the customers out of frustration have committed suicide but they will rely on their gods for redress. Mr. Sarpong while pouring schnapps on the ground said “Anyone who touches our money and not releases it to us will face the wrath of the gods because we are tired of the lies from President Mahama and Dr. Wampah. We want our gods to collect our monies for us” he said.
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) shut down the company on Monday, May 11, 2015, after it reportedly failed to comply with the terms and conditions required in its license and also for purportedly possessing assets deemed too insufficient to meet its liabilities to investors or clients; however many have blamed the BoG for alleged failure to ascertain the capabilities of the company initially before granting it license to operate.
This matter of curse should be taken very seriously as history has it that in as far back in the 1840s thereabout chief Tecumseh invoked a similar curse on the US Government and President, known as the zero years Presidential curse.
Strange but true: From 1840 through 1960, every president elected in a year ending in zero died while in office. Some called it “The Curse of Tecumseh,” after the Shawnee chieftain who was killed by the forces of General William Henry Harrison in 1813. Tecumseh’s brother, Tenskwatawa, supposedly prophesied bitterly that Harrison would die if he were elected president. Harrison was elected in 1840, died after barely a month in office, and the “curse” was off and running.140 long years later, Ronald Reagan finally broke the string by serving two full terms as president before stepping down in 1989.
