No death penalty for Gaddafi’s son as he is released from custody

Reports from The Guardian indicates that Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam has been released from custody after his death sentence was quashed.

Al-Islam’s lawyer is poised to  petition the International Criminal Court (ICC) to drop the charges against his client, which would allow him travel abroad with ease.
Al-Islam, 44, is the most prominent of Gaddafi’s eight children. He was sentenced to death by a Tripoli court in July 2015.
Khan is reported to say that the sentence had been quashed by Libya’s  UN-backed government, and Saif was now at an undisclosed location after being released from house arrest in the mountain town of Zintan where he had been held for five years.
Al-Islam was reportedly freed on 12 April but no official announcement was made to the public from the central government.
