A two-year-old boy was attacked and killed by an alligator at a Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida.
The boy's father tried to save him but couldn't. The family of five from Nebraska, including two other young children,
was watching a fireworks show at around 9pm local time last night when
tragedy occurred.
The lagoon is 14 feet deep in some places and
connects to other waterways but divers are on standby.
A
wildlife official said an attack like this is "very rare" in Florida.
Officials suspect the gator was feeding and mistook the movement of the
boy for a small animal at the water's edge.
Peter Doocy reported that there are "no swimming" signs around the lagoon, but no signs warning specifically about gators.
Meanwhile, a British family said they were chased by an alligator at same Disney resort two months ago, they were sitting on the sand getting ready to watch the
nightly fireworks show when a gator lunged out of the water.
