Woman Rejected by Airline Decided to Start her Own Airline

Sibongile Sambo, a South African woman is the first woman to own an airline in  Africa.  SRS Aviation is in fact the only female-owned aviation company in Africa. The establishment of the company was born out of her misfortune in the aviation industry.

She initially aspired to become a flight attendant. She was denied  the flight attendant position on the grounds  she did not meet the minimum height requirement. Not perturb but determined to open up her own aviation company, she sold her car and cashed out her mom’s pension to help her obtain an Air Operating Certificate from the South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Her company partnered with MCC Aviation, a well-known Aviation company to  assist  her to achieve her objectives. SRS Aviation offers professional and personalized flight options to different destinations around the world.
Sambo is determined  to share her experiences to motivate other South African women to achieve their aspirations.
